Katerine "Treat Me Like A Lady"

The young Belgian beauty, Katerine, is on a film set. She’s doing a retro futuristic theme. There’s only one other guy on the set who tries to get her attention, but she completely ignores him. No problem, he just keeps dancing.

Katherine – Ayo Technology

This is the 2009 unlikely song of the year. The first video I saw was from the unlikely duo of Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent. Then, I discovered a popular acoustic remake from Milow. Given the success of these two versions, naturally there needed to be a dance remake. Katherine is a sexy young singer on Belgium’s Mostiko label. In this video, She remakes the famous Kylie Minogue Agent Provocateur commercial riding the mechanical bull in scantily clad lingerie.

AnnaGrace "Let The Feelings Go"

This video has been one of the most popular on Blastro.com for the past few weeks. It is also staying strong on dance music radio as well. The city of Los Angeles is the setting for this video and Annemie is found as some notable landmarks. It’s a similar theme to her Paris tourist music video she did with Ian Van Dahl.

Belgium Dance Music

Dance music videos from Belgium

One of the biggest surprises for me in the mainstream dance scene has been the quality of music originating from Belgium.  The artists are producing very accessible tracks with high quality videos accompanying them.

Much of the dance scene centers around producer Regi Penxten.  His main act is Milk Inc, but he is also responsible for Sylver and Ellis-T.  His style is vocal trance, and his website lists dozens of acts that he’s been involved with in some aspect of their production.

There are two videos that stand out from Milk Inc.  “Sunshine” is the story of a prison break, in which a fugitive is on the run to rendezvous with his girlfriend, played by Lin Mertens.  Regi plays the patient bounty hunter who knows how to track down fugitives, and he allows the prisoner one night with his girl before he nabs him in the morning.  “The Sun Always Shines on TV” is a trance-inspired cover from the 80s Norwegian band A-ha, and the video is an energetic live performance at The Music Factory (TMF) Awards in 2003.

Kate Ryan is an appealing pop artist who started her career singing as a teenager.  Ten years later, she has gained pan-European popularity as a mainstream dance artist.  Her videos try to bring an air of celebrated personality to them.  In “I Surrender” she is surrounded by burly bodyguards who carry umbrellas to keep her looking nice through a downpour.  It’s a red carpet event with photographers flashing their cameras and fans waiting for autographs.  Kate is living the lifestyle of the super wealthy in “Voyage Voyage.”   She has a Mediterranean villa with stunning vistas and a beautiful pool, creating the perfect setting for Kate to show off her sexy figure.

Blastro.com features many videos from Belgium artists, and searching with the keyword “Belgium” will pull up many more.  A few of my favorite videos include Dexter Connection’s “Without You” featuring Winda, D.H.T.’s subtle remix of “I Go Crazy,” and the Paris scenery of Ian Van Dahl’s “Just A Girl.”

Dig into this country’s dance music scene.  It’s more producer rather than DJ centered, and they’ve had a long run pumping out the hits in the clubs and on the radio.
